I came upon Mrs. Perkins' obituary completely by chance, while researching something else, but - upon reading about her - felt compelled to leave a message here.
In my youth, I was a competitive figure skater who came to Lake Placid all the way from Manchester, NH every summer from 1972 - 1977 to train.. My very first summer there, my skating friends and I met Marty and Greg at the local hardware store in the village. I was 13 years old and was away from home for the very first time. As a cluster of teenagers will do, we struck up a friendship with the Perkins brothers. These two young men were kind, sweet and respectful. They showed us the Village of Lake Placid without pretense; they introduced us to "Custard and Mustard", which we frequented after our training sessions at the rink. They became pen pals and friends. Each year, we looked forward with great anticipation to seeing these wonderful,, truly stellar young men.
Though I've never met her, in reading of Mrs. Perkins and her kindness, intelligence and , I realized with great clarity of thought - nearly 50 years after meeting her two sons - that their actions, their moral compass and their kindness were influenced by their Mom.
And though I haven't seen or heard of either of you in almost 50 years, I am sending my heartfelt condolences to you both, Marty and Greg, on the loss of your beautiful mother. I hope that time has brought you some peace, and I hope that your lives have continued on the bright paths they were on all those summers ago in Lake Placid.
Wishing you both great peace and much happiness always -
Theresa

We were so glad to meet Carol and Erin. Our dog, Brandy, got a very loving home. I’m glad Carol got to spend time with her. Brandy knew she was a special person. She became friends with Carol the first visit. She was a special person. She will be missed by everyone.

I would like to express my sympathy to Carol's family . She was a contemporary of my sister, Pat Cooney, who also graduated from St. John's Academy. I am sure she is resting with her Lord and Savior, after suffering so much in her final years. May angels swiftly carry her to Heaven to find peace at long last.

Erin, Andy, Val, Marty, Greg, and Bob,
Mrs. Perkins (Carol), was such an inspiration to all her who knew her. Her strength, fortitude and her love for her family was immeasurable. The past few days the endless memories of her and the times shared at the house on Perkins hill have brought a big smile to my face. She was always so welcoming and "the door was always open" (even at 3:00 am)!
I am so grateful to have known her and you are all a reflection of the person/mother she was. May she fly high with the angels and rest in peace.
My prayers and thoughts are with all of you.
Love,
Judy Kearns (Panzer)
