My sister was a fun loving free spirit who deeply loved life, family and animals on her ranch. I wish I was more like her. As cancer ravaged her body and took her body parts, voice and eventually eyesight she never complained. She lived for years with a port, trach and belly feeding tube. Before she lost her voice, I told her that I wish it was me that had the cancer instead of her. She said she was glad that it was her and that she was hopeful that with the doctors using her as a guinea pig they would find a cure and save others after her. And she meant it. Her courage and selflessness was remarkable and I know she has a special place in heaven. I am deeply saddened to lose her, but have some solace in knowing that she is no longer in pain. I will miss her telephone calls and texting but I know in my heart that we will never be separated. I pray that she rests in peace and that a cure for other cancer victims are found soon.
