Obituary of Catherine M. Gooley

Catherine M. Gooley, 72, passed away at her home on January 22, 2019.  She was the daughter of the late Claude and Myrtle (LaBarre) Gooley.

Catherine was a member of St. Mary’s Parish. She completed a Certificate of Formation for Ministry, was a member of the Catholic Daughters, a lector in the church, and taught religious education to children in St. Mary’s Parish and at Sacred Heart Church. She helped and mentored many young people and made it her mission to help the poor and disadvantaged.  She took her status as an aunt and great aunt seriously.  She was also an avid animal lover. 

Catherine is survived by four brothers Donald Gooley(Linda); William Gooley (Louise); Richard Gooley (Irma); Stephen Gooley(Mary) and a sister, Carolyn Engle(David) as well as several nieces and nephews; Jennifer Donato(Gerry); Jeannine Combs (Danny); David Gooley (Ann); Kelly Chandon(Mark); Shannon Gooley; Jimmy Gooley; Augusta Brotzman, Will Gooley and fourteen great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her nephew, Brent Gooley.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, January 28th at M. B. Clark Funeral Home in Champlain, NY. The funeral (Rite of Christian burial) will be at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain, NY at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 29th, followed by a reception at the VFW, 600 St. John's Road, Champlain.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the charity of your choice.
