As a little girl I looked forward every year to visiting Aunt Doris and Uncle Bernie in Lake Placid. I remember picking blueberries with Aunt Doris, and the pies she made afterwards I remember fishing with Uncle Bernie, and his dog Laddie, and having fun with cousin ChiChi. Aunt Doris was always so kind to my sister DeeDee and me. And she and Uncle Bernie would cut down a beautiful Christmas tree in the Lake Placid woods, and ship it to us in our apartment in Brooklyn. I still remember the fragrance of those trees. Aunt Doris was wonderful person, and I will miss her.

Aunt Doris was more like my other mom than an aunt. So many of my early memories were spent with Aunt Doris, Uncle Bernie, Laddie, Chuchi, Buzzie and many other precious pets. Along with mom and dad, they gave so many of us a great childhood.
