Ron, Colleen, Michael, Patrick, and Susie - I'm so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a very special woman who loved her family dearly and treated everyone with such kindness. She was so very generous and her heart and home were always opened to my mother and us kids when we went to visit. I have some great memories of going to Lake Placid to see my moms "favorite cousin" and her family. One memory I have is playing in the front yard of the old house on one of the trees and your mom sitting out there laughing and just enjoying watching us play. Years later I brought my mom to visit cause she was afraid it would be her last time to see your mom (and it was) and she desperately wanted to see her. It was fun to hear them talk of old times and growing up and family. Jeannine knew I had an interest in our family history so she later sent me a copy of the genealogy report she had put together. So very thoughtful. (I hope you have found her copy. If not, please let me know and I can send you a copy if you are interested.) I pray you have found some peace through this difficult time knowing that your wife and mom touched people she met in life with kindness and generosity and is being rewarded greatly in her heavenly home. As a young seventeen year old, and just starting my first job at Howard Johnson’s, I recall Mrs. Butler’s lovely personality and kind nature. Both her and her wonderful hubby,my first “ boss” ever, were so gracious and kind and always willing to listen to and encourage their employees. I worked there for a few years traveling two and from Saranac Lake and also staying the summers nearby. When I left over fifty years ago, they presented me with a beautiful silver tray with my name engraved that I still have to this day! RIP to this wonderful, kind lady whose marriage I always wanted to emulate because of their love and devotion to each other.May her family take great comfort in all the memories and joy she brought to them!

I had the privilege of working for Mr. and Mrs. Butler for 21 years. Both of them were very special to me and I truly
Loves them both. I managed the hotel for 12 years and would travel to conferences with them often. It was always a adventure Mrs Butler was always shopping in the airports while our flight was boarding and Mr. B would have me go get her so we didn’t miss our flight. They were definitely the meaning of true love. My heart goes out to Mr. Butler and the family as she will be missed by so many. ❤️

We were fortunate to have known Jeannine since the seventies when we first moved to Lake Placid. We always thought of Jeannine and Ron as the official “Greeters” of Lake Placid as they welcomed all, locals and visitors alike, into their home away from home at Howard Johnson’s. We will always remember Jeannine for her warm smile and friendly demeanor toward all.

One on my favorite trips was exploring the Quebec City and region where Mrs. Butler grew up. I loved meeting her family in Quebec, the stories and all her adventures. I was fortunate to be asked to tag along with them on that vacation. She will be in my heart with a smile and I hear her laughter.
