Please share a memory of Jeannine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jeannine Marguerite Laliberte Butler Devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jeannine Butler has gone peacefully to the Lord Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family in her home. Jeannine was born on August 27th, 1930 to Eudore Laliberte and Marie-Anne-Beaudoin in Worcester, Massachusetts. She graduated on June 13th, 1949 from Auburn High School in Auburn, Massachusetts. On August 10th, 1952, she met the love of her life, Ronald Lawrence Butler, and on June 4, 1955 they were married in Fisherville, Massachusetts. Ronald was attending Paul Smith’s College at the time, so their first residence was in Saranac Lake, NY. Jeannine was employed at the Lake Placid Club doing payroll. On September 1, 1958 Jeannine and Ronald embarked on a life-long journey in the hospitality industry purchasing the iconic Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Lake Placid, NY. Jeannine worked side-by-side with Ronald doing bookkeeping, staff training, waitressing and making sure Ronald stayed in line. Four children soon followed. Colleen Anne Butler-Roth, born September 14th, 1960, Michael Shawn Butler, born May 3, 1963, Patrick Joseph Butler, born February 7, 1966 and Suzanne Marie Butler Borden, born July 28, 1968. Some are not aware of the fact that three of her children were adopted and given the best life ever. All adoptions were through Catholic Charities, and Jeannine ensured that the Catholic faith was central to the family's life. Jeannine's transition from the hospitality industry to motherhood gave her great joy, and all her children treasure the grace, values and commitment she brought to their lives. Her infectious smile and laughter made everyone around her happier. Jeannine was an incredible role model giving selflessly in all aspects of her life, in particular with her charitable services and work with St. Agnes School and Church. She was predeceased by her brothers Albert and Marcelle Laliberte, sister Clemence Narris and granddaughter Saige Borden. She is survived by grandchildren, Nicole, Adam, Alyssa, Graeme, Evan, Brennan, Remi and great grandchildren Carson, Logan and Molly. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 27 at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Saranac Ave., Lake Placid, NY. Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate. A reception to continue the celebration of the life of Mrs. Butler will follow in the Butler Room at the ‘dack Shack (formerly Howard Johnson’s Restaurant). Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in May. In lieu of flowers the Butler family would like memorial donations made to High Peaks Hospice and Palliative Care, https://highpeakshospice.org/donate/ , P. O. Box 840, Saranac Lake, NY 12983.
