So sorry to hear of the passing of Mike. I got to know Mike while working as a live-in summer helper to his mother, Mrs Quinn, during the summers of 1970/71. Mike was the 'jokester' and always ready with a good tease much to the torment of his younger brothers! I had not seen Mike for many years until about a year ago when I and my husband on a whim stopped into his MexQuinn restaurant and by happenstance met Mike who was working there that day. Mike sat at our table and we shared stories of many summers past and what had become of us. I am so glad I got to see Mike again and can definitely say, from that brief encounter after so many years, that he lived a life well lived.

Michael has always been a wise guide for all along with the wise cracks with that grin on his face. I first met Michael when I came to the USA, and he was always one to help, direct and offer suggestions. Rarely would you see his feathers ruffled unless his team lost or you just didn’t take the time to be polite. He was an amazing person and will be greatly missed, I thank you for your history lessons and your copy of the Declaration of Independence and the constitution book from when I became a citizen. Thank you Mr. Quinn for being exactly who you were.

I moved back to the Saranac Lake area in the fall of 2001 after a few years away. The apartment building that I moved into was next door to Mike and Beth's house. Mike made an amazing and distinct impression the first moment I met him in the shared driveway. For people who knew him or met him, it's not a mystery that he always led with a quick smile, an ebullient greeting and a calm and quiet confidence of a man who knew the importance of a kind word and a kind gesture. We often woke up after an overnight snowstorm to find that Mike had shoveled out the driveway, and I recall once when he even cleared off my car; all while taking care of his own home and his large and beautiful family.
After moving away, several years later, I walked in to Despos....a lot of water had passed over the dam since the last time I saw him, but Mike and I picked up right where we left off....he never skipped a beat, knew my name and proved to be just like I always remembered him to be. My deepest sympathies to Beth, his children and his family. Our community and the many people in it are all better off because Mike was a part of it, this world needs more men like him.

Mike will surely be missed by many. Being in Maryland, he was the connection for me to the North Country and SLU. He was sharing pictures and funny quips that always brought a smile. I will miss knowing the Desperados specials (not that I was going to drop by), the reminders of an upcoming hockey game with Clarkson, and his wonderful smile. Sending all the best wishes.......

From our gravity defying Bobsled rides, 48 hour trip from Lake Placid to Naples Fl in January in a Subaru Brat with no heat, to finding out that putting the KVVI 4 man bobsled in the back of your Dodge Rampage
truckster was not the best of ideas, it was always an adventure and always fun!
