My condolences to Sue and Johnies family on your loss. I have only just arrived at the Chalets and heard this sad news. I always enjoyed checking in with and talking to Johnny. He always expressed concern and compassion to me for my health and I will miss him a lot. RIP my friend. Greg from Canada.

I have worked at the WFC gardens for the past 10 years.Johnny was "the big man" on the John Deere gator that cruised the golf course loop. Once I learned his name and we spoke for the first time, he never failed to stop and say hello or share a kind word with me as I worked the garden loop. He spoke of his lovely wife Sue and when my husband passed away, we marveled that we had both been married to our spouses for 34 years. Sending thoughts of peace and kindness to John's family as you mourn the loss of this beloved man. Melanie Craig Phelabaum

I’m at a loss for words… I loved my time with Johnny solving railroad problems in a Hi-Rail trip or on a boat ride- such a elegant luxury with Sue, I am so grateful. He was tough but kind he could be a fighter and still a gentleman and when he gave his word it was gold. He was bigger than life! My heart and condolences go out to Sue and his family. Xoxo loved this man and missed him.

My condolences to Sue, Buzzy, Kristen, Caroline and the rest of Johnny's family
I have know Johnny since our days in Club Scouts many moons ago. We had many good times in our youth growing up in Saranac Lake.
As we were reaching the Winter of our life our enjoyment was sitting around and remiss about the good old days, also our road trips around the back roads of this beautiful area we live in. All those trips also called for a stop for food or ice cream.
RIP Ole Buddy ---Love Yaa till we meet again

I had some friends visiting LP and we were out on the lake. I saw Johnny on his dock and of course had to stop and say hello. They were all amazed that I was able to predict the exact words that Johnny would use to say hello back. But they absolutely loved that time spent with him and have spoken of it since, always asking about Johnny by name. Johnny was a big man with a big personality - but an even bigger heart. RIP sir.

My condolences on the passing of John. He was always kind to me, but he certainly "marched to the beat of his own drum." I remember one incident from the seventies. I was at his garage on Main Street (where the parking lot across from NBT bank is). A man had locked his keys in his car. John walked over to his car parked near by, took a coat hanger, and unlocked the car for the man. When the man asked how much, John said it would be five dollars. The man was shocked at that high price. He sputtered and complained. So John pushed the lock down and shut the door and walked away. I never knew what the man did to get back into his car! I've only seen John a couple of times in recent years, but It was always a trip down memory lane when I did happen to see him and talk to him. To all of his loved ones, I send you prayers of healing and comfort.

John was my best friend for 54 years. He hired me to manage his body shop at Sara Placid Chrysler Plymouth in 1967 when I needed a job. We did a lot of crazy things together when we were younger. He was one of a kind, and I will miss him terribly, but will see him again in Heaven.

Jonnys Dad and my good friend Arthur Lashway Sr worked together on the delivery from the railroad years and years ago and remained good friends all their lives. And as with Jonny, all left a mark on the hearts they met. My prayers are with you all as you celebrate a life well lived, as we promise to live on the legacy of 'love one another' that all these men practiced and fulfilled. Rest in peace Jonny , until we meet again.
