I remember Phil for all his tireless work with the Salvation Army bell ringers. For several years, as a volunteer, Phil would be there for the start of a shift or at the end no matter how cold it was, how much snow was blowing or who didn't show up for their assigned time slot. A great asset to the small community of Lake Placid. Volunteers like Phil are hard to find these days

As relative newcomers to Lake Placid, Kit and I have only had the gift of Phil's friendship a few short years. In that time though,we have been blessed by his genuine warmth, kindness, and gentle demeanor. From cheery 6:30am greetings at men's breakfasts, his graciousness on the pickle ball court, to his incredible patience as my cribbage mentor, Phil was someone you wanted to be around. He just brightened your day. His only offense to our friendship was the delight he took in pointing out each time he skunked me in cribbage. Regardless, I loved every minute we shared and will miss him like a brother. If you could look up "Good Friend" in the dictionary, Phil's picture would certainly be there. Claire and family, our hearts ache so for your loss. Our prayer is that as each day passes your sorrow is eased by the warm memories you all share.......in sympathy, Kit and Jud

Sending Prayers & Condolences to Uncle Phil's family..
Uncle Phil was my Godfather. I have many memories of this very kind and generous man.. I remember uncle Phil in Uniform coming home on leave to be with his family, The first person in my memory to serve his country.. I remember going to the condo's where Uncle Phil lived rent free because his job was painting at those condo's . He told me that he painted all day ,slept and got up and painted again.. ( Funny the things that stick in your memory from when you were a kid ) I remember all the visits to Gramma Polly's, If Uncle Phil was there he would always gather up all the kids that were there and herd them all outside to play ball.. Football ,Baseball, kick ball or whatever else we wanted to do so that all the other grownups could catch up with each other with out all the kids getting in the way...As we all grew older I remember the wonderful hospitality shared by Phil and his family any time we visited Lake Placid.
Phil's great heart will for sure get him a good seat at the table of our god and savior. Uncle Phil will remain in all of our hearts until we see him again.
To his family , Live and Love like he did and cherish all the Love and memories he left with us.

I was called to fellowship with Phil. We were college friends who lost track of each other from 1967 to 1989. We reunited with our families at a PAFB (NY) Airshow and that led to a shared adventure through regular visits in Arkansas, Florida, Vermont, South Carolina and Lake Placid. Phil taught me to really pray, to increase my love and devotion for my family, and to love my neighbors. I never mastered his golf tips. Joan will miss her cribbage-buddy. Rest in peace good friend. Phil always had a smile and a hug to share. A great Dad and a great friend. Recent memories remind me of babysitting in the baby room at MOPS. Phil loved rocking those babies and talking about his kids and grandkids. So many will miss his warm personality and quick wit. Claire we know life will be different, but all those precious memories will comfort you. Kids, you had a great Dad, one in a million and I'm sorry you didnt have more time with him, but quality of life is important. And his quality of life just got way better. He's resting in the Lord's care and looking down on you all and knowing he did a great job and you all will be just fine with him watching over you. God bless you all. Peggy and Kit

So many wonderful memories - and stories I could share. I will always remember Phil for his faith, his honesty, his ability to encourage others. And when he saw my three boxes of sermons, labelled "A", "B" and "C" for the liturgical years, he commented: "Hey, did we ever get any of your "A" sermons?" Jokingly suggesting that I withheld those "A" sermons, I think it is safe to say that if he is hearing any preaching now he doesn't have to worry about the quality. With gratitude for Phil's life, and with prayers for Claire and family.
