I loved all the wonderful times I spent wth Rosemary
and Paul at St. Eugene's parish in Yonkers and St. Joseh's parish in Bronxvlle. Sharing our faith with them
was a great joy. Our friendship continued in Vermont
when our daughter, Ceara, attended St. Michael's College. Their support was a great help to us.
My prayers are with all your family.

Our dear Rosemary has left us. A brilliant woman, a loving wife and mother, and a cherished friend.
If anyone in the Reiss/Donohue family touched me to my heart, it is her. She reminded me so much of my mother, Evelyn. Her bright eyes and wide smile; and her innate kindness.
From the time I was a child, she would take me aside during family gatherings and genuinely was interested in what I was doing in the world. She is a role model to me in faith as well. You made a dynamic couple, and she honored you and her children each and every day. My mother’s high school yearbook picture had a short description attached, which includes the words “and every grace.” I include these words in this message for Rosemary as well. She had every grace in action, word and deed.
I will always cherish the moments Don and I spent with you both. We hold so much respect for you and the contributions you have made to higher education, and Catholic teachings. She offered valuable support in many of those efforts as a partner and educator in her own right.
Thank you for wonderful memories.
With love,
Carolyn & Don

Dear Paul,
Reza and I wish to express our deepest sympathies to you and your family. We are on a short visit to Lake Placid and know how much this special town meant to Rosemary and you. We will always remember Rosemary for her warm welcome of us as new faculty to your house on campus in 1986. Rosemary has a special place in our hearts, as do you. May you find solace in the days to come.

So many memories of Rosemary as she was a presence in our lives in so many profound ways. A couple of standouts would be when she and Paul helped our family buy a house in Westport in 1971 when I was 10, it changed all our lives. Also when she convinced me of the dangers of smoking as a teenager and I quit, another life changing event. I remember being with her in France in 87 when she accompanied my Mom to my brothers wedding and her generous laugh, smile and spirit. She was always looking for the good in us all even when it was hard to find at times. She always made you feel like she cared about you personally and she was always the first person to send a heartfelt card or letter at the most important times. I remember having lunch with her in Burlington just the two of us at her home when I was in town on business, she was as gracious and encouraging as always and gave me confidence I didn’t know I had. There is one thing I think I need to mention that might be a surprise to some but she once told me that our family was not entirely Irish but also came from Scottish stock and she sent me the genealogy research she did to prove it. She pointed that fact out to me after my son Grant was born telling me that Grant was a Scottish family surname along with Campbell and McGregor. I would never doubt it if she said it and that goes for anything she would say, Lol. God Speed Aunt Rosemary, your work here is done and we are all better off for the love you shared with us.

Hi Tim - This post meant so much to all of us. Thank you. BTW, in the eulogy I mentioned how my mom chopped off her wedding dress to tea length and wore it a year later to her brother George's wedding. It was a lesson to us in ingenuity, furgality and creativity. You happen to have both photos posted right here!
