Our family will be forever grateful for the time that we were able to share with Mr. True. He sincerely was like a father to us and grandfather to our children. He always made you feel like family with a hug when he saw you and a hug a when you left. We will treasure the moments spent with you whether it as simple as sitting in your living room watching TV together or as special as the time we were hunting together when you harvested your first whitetail buck. You always had a story to tell or something to teach us. You are missed and loved always.

My sincere sympathy to Brenda and Bruce and Wesley Jr.
Mr. True was always kind and generous to me. He could always bring a smile. I remember fishing with him and Mrs. True several summer nights years ago, it was always an enjoyable time. They were always welcoming toward me no matter how much time had passed. He is at peace now, with his wife. God bless with love,
Nancy

Whenever I saw Uncle Wes, no matter how many years had gone by since seeing him last, he would always say, “There’s my goddaughter!” Then give me the biggest hug.
I know you had a lot of people waiting in line to welcome you to heaven…and I know my dad was one of them. Now all the True boys are together again.
You will always be my favorite uncle and I will miss you so much. Say hi to my dad! Love Always, your niece, Becky

I would like to say a few words about a great neighbor, friend and hunting buddy. I remember when the family first moved in to the area some 50 years ago. They brought horses with them and invited me to ride. Wes was always there to bring us to horse shows. One year there was a problem with one of the horses and Wes drove all the way to Sryacuse pulling a horse trailer. For years Wes always helped out with doing chorse, feeding the ducks, peacocks and all the animals. Not only Wes a good farmer he was a pretty good hunter to. Wes helped me take my oldest son out duck hunting for the first time. Wes brought a duck hunting boat so we could go out in the lake to hunt. Wes was also a big NASCAR fan. On Sundays a few of us would go to his house to watch the the race. Wes would always have a good joke to tell! To we meet again, Love Rich.

My sincere condolences to the family of Wesley True, especially to his daughter Brenda and his son in law Bruce
Wes you were a legend. Many of my family and friends have never met you but they all know you based on the stories that have been told. We have hunted and fished together for 30 plus years. Some good, Some bad, but all Memorable. I can see your smile when you shot your first buck and the two step you did when you took third in the Happy Pike Derby and the pain you were in after you fell asleep and fell from the tree stand. You may not be with us but the memories and the stories of the Legend of Old Man True will live forever. Love you buddy, till we met again.

I would like to offer a prayer and a blessing for Wes and his family.
Heavenly Father, we lift up Wes in prayer, as we remember his life and the impact that he had on those around him. His strong spirit of determination even in the most difficult circumstances will inspire others to not ever give up hope. His laughter and good humor were infectious and will surely be missed. These qualities of strength and joy are a gift from you, Lord and a display of your goodness. The goodness that Wes now sees as he is welcomed into your arms and everlasting life. Lord, we also lift up to you, family and friends who mourn this loss. May they be comforted by your presence, strengthened by your words, surrounded by a circle of support of people who care and be reminded daily of your great love for them. Father God, we ask for your blessing, that rest eternal be granted to Wes, O Lord. May his soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

As part of the "extended family", I met Mr. True over 30 years ago at one of the many holiday gatherings with the True/Phaneuf/Pombrio families. Mr. True welcomed me and my son, making us both feel like we were part of the actual family. It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to yet another member of my family.

Seems odd to call Mr True by his first name here after so many years being known to me as “Bren’s dad”. Wes was extended family as my brother’s father-in-law whom we shared holidays and numerous family gatherings since the mid-1970s.
Wes nearly always attended with a jovial smile and armed with a bit of mischief to unleash in the telling of a uniquely “True” story or a special joke. He usually also came with a comment to share about Bren, or Wes, or both and beaming with pride as to the milestones he shared with them as only a father can do. He regaled us with fishing and hunting stories and was very happy to share fishing exploits with Bren. Recaps of their family travels always came with a adventurous tale that could only happen to them!
He will be missed…as the holiday table I revisit in my memories shrinks by yet another chair.
This said, I smile at the thought he is gathering infinite hugs and kisses and some devilish humor and chiding Mrs True (Van) about getting above ahead of him!
Much love
Emy
