This is Maddy. Harold and I were at Saddle Creek county park near Lakeland Florida with Bob and Penny Gray. We were exploring and went down a partly overgrown Spanish moss covered trail, (cause of course Harold Scriver wanted to) and saw a large alligator half in the water at the end of the trail. There were babies. The rest of us ran back, but Harold just had to get a closer look at the babies. She let him get pretty close before she opened her mouth and hissed at him. But she didn't attack. Harold stood there several minutes admiring the babies before he finally rejoined us. He later said he was in no danger because there was a tree right there he could have climbed.
